YEW WAH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Name of Scholarship: The Madam Tsang Chor-hang Memorial Scholarship

Objectives
The purpose in offering these scholarships is to recognize and reward excellence in academics and school leadership. We aim to:
  • Attract the best students
  • Retain our best students
  • Motivate our current students to study hard

  • Introduction
IGCSE Scholarships, AS Scholarships and A2 Scholarships will be available to partially or fully subsidize the tuition costs for students who achieve high academic results on Cambridge examinations. Awards will be made at the IGCSE, AS and A2 levels and will be valued at 50-100% of a student¡¯s tuition. Scholarships are limited to the cost of tuition and other fees such as housing, meals, books, uniforms, trips and miscellaneous fees are not covered by these scholarships. All scholarships will be awarded in arrears after the Cambridge examination results are released.
    Awards Process
All current Yew Wah students are automatically considered for an award. No special application is required. Non Yew Wah students, who have taken seven IGCSE exams or four AS exams (not including Chinese), will also be considered for the IGCSE and AS Scholarships. Non Yew Wah students will be considered after they have completed the formal application process for study in the Yew Wah OUPP.
The main criteria for receiving an award are a student¡¯s Cambridge examination results. However, current Yew Wah students must also be recommended by a majority of their teachers, whose recommendation will be based on attendance, and evidence of leadership in the school. When there are no students who reach the scholarship standard, Yew Wah International Education School may make awards to current students who have achieved excellent results but slightly less that the normally required standard, and who have demonstrated the school¡¯s ideals through leadership, character development and community service. The school retains the right to make no awards, if there are no students that qualify for the scholarships. A maximum of 10 awards will be made. If more than 10 individuals qualify, then the highest scorers will receive the awards.
When an IGCSE Scholarship is awarded to a current Yew Wah IGCSE student, the scholarship must be applied to the subsequent Yew Wah AS course (OUPP 3). AS Scholarships and A2 Scholarships awarded to current Yew Wah students may be applied to further study in Yew Wah or to a university course of their choosing.
When an IGCSE or AS Scholarship is awarded to a non Yew Wah student, the award ¡¢must be applied to subsequent study in the Yew Wah at either the AS or A2 level (OUPP 3 & 4). Non Yew Wah students are ineligible for an A2 Scholarship.
