YWIES Shanghai upholds a non-discrimination policy and accepts applications from any qualified student regardless of race, gender, class or economic status, or national background.
Applicants for coming school year (usually commences in late August) are strongly recommended to follow the procedure as below:
- Visit the official school website at https://admission-sh.ywies.com to complete the online application and pay the examination fee.
- Photocopy of your child's residence card or birth certificate or ID card or passport with valid visa stamp;
- Photocopy of parent's/guardian's ID card or passport;
- Photocopy of your child's latest school academic reports/records (these reports/records must be in either Chinese or English, or translated into Chinese or English by an authorised translation agency) and any other documentation that may help the school determine the appropriate programme for your child;
- Artworks that demonstrates your child's competence in Art & Design creation;
- Two passport-sized photos of your child.
Your application will be processed according to the following procedure after the Admissions Office receives your completed application package:
Application Process
- STEP1
Entrance Assessment
The assessment includes an English written test, interview and artwork review. Comprehensive assessment of students’ English listening, speaking, reading and writing proficiency as well as artistic literacy.
- STEP2
Interview
The Admissions Office will make an appointment with you. The principal or teacher will present our school's educational philosophy and objectives, and learn more about your child.
- STEP3
Offer of Placement
If your child has successfully passed the entrance assessment and the interview, an offer of placement will be issued in five working days.
- STEP4
Acceptance of Offer of Placement
To confirm your acceptance of the Offer of Placement and reserve your child's place in our school, please sign and return the Acceptance of Offer of Placement to the Admissions Office as early as possible. Confirmation of your child's placement in our school will only take place upon receipt by the school of the signed Acceptance of Offer of Placement and payment of the required fees as set out in the attached Notice of Payment, within 10 working days of the date of the offer. The Offer of Placement will otherwise expire.
For transfer students, please contact the Admissions Office individually. Your application will be processed after the Admissions Office receives your completed application package.
YWIES Shanghai cordially welcomes students and parents to pay a visit to our campus on weekdays. Since YWIES Shanghai does not follow the same holiday schedule as public schools, it would be greatly appreciated if you could make an appointment with us before coming to visit the school.
