A child's development into a contributing member of society starts at home. At YWIES, we highly appreciate the school-home partnership.
YWIES Shanghai works hand in hand with families to benefit the healthy growth and successful education of their children. Parents are able to participate in their children's school life by interacting with teachers on a regular basis as well as being involved in the community, charities and the school itself.
Parent Relations Officers liaise between parents, the community and the school's administration.
Parental education is also integral to school/parent co-operation. Through regular seminars and workshops, parents are exposed to advanced child rearing strategies.
PAP (Parent Ambassador Programme)
At YWIES we believe parents play an integral role in the development of their students education and the development of the school community. So the PAP provides parents with the opportunity to share the vision and mission of YWIES and why they chose our school to others. It is designated to engage with families who wish to be more involved with YWIES.
PAP serves as a bridge between International Teachers and National Families
- Leadership opportunities for parents to connect with our YWIES and YCIS school community and National Chinese community will be provided
Who are Parent Ambassadors?
- Community oriented with a commitment to providing service to others
- Be available to volunteer and coordinate at the school for events
- Attend some evening and/or weekend meetings, as needed
- Can communicate effectively with a diverse group of parents, staff, and local community members
- Willing to provide and secure resources to enrich and empower YWIES community through event sponsorship, offering internship opportunities, hosting events, or funding school projects etc.
- Seeds of Hope is a service-learning co-curricular program for all Yew Wah International Education Schools.
- Provide an opportunity to engage in service-learning projects that bring healing to the world such as working with the Social Services Club to work on Saturdays with less fortunate children in Shanghai .
- The PAP aids in the development of our charity events such as our Annual Seeds of Hope Gala, YWIES Gubei Charity Dinner, and other events.
System-Wide Seeds of Hope Charity Project
In recognition of the Yew Wah motto, "to align with love and charity", Seeds of Hope project is our first network-wide charity. Seeds of Hope was established after the tragic Sichuan earthquake in 2008. Through various initiatives, including the hugely successful Seeds of Hope Concert, all stakeholders throughout Yew Wah locations joined to raise funds, and the Sichuan Earthquake Educational Development (SEED) was established to help finance the restoration of the Minzhu Primary School in Anyue County, Ziyang City, Sichuan Province.
From the original SEED funds emerged the greater vision of Seeds of Hope, which grew into a partnership with the China Youth Development Foundation. This partnership has resulted in the establishment of Seeds of Hope Schools in various parts of rural China, with the goal of building one school each year.
